Our Story

Pickering Homes is a locally owned and operated business owned by Bryce and Stacy Pickering. Bryce has been in the construction business for over fourteen years. The venture into home building began as a personal venture for Bryce and Stacy to build their own home. Bryce, being business minded and ambitious, took his ambitions of owning a commercial construction company and reworked them into the residential housing business. His background as a union ironworker provided the groundwork for being thorough in the knowledge of completing a project, literally "from the ground up."

We focus on building the highest quality home for the most affordable price. Our focus is to build a home with no less quality and craftsmanship than we would build for ourselves. We feel so strongly about this, we decided from the beginning our name should stand behind our homes. We guarantee that every home we build in Northwest Indiana, with our specifications, will be a 5+ Energy Star home and a Certified Green Home. We have all of our homes inspected, tested, and verified by Energy Diagnostics, an independent third party inspection service.

Our efforts have resulted in a client-focused business with great attention to our homeowners. Bryce has also obtained his real estate license. We can now offer you our services of selling your old home while we are building your new home. We have new homes now spanning Porter County in neighborhoods such as Turtle Run, Jackson Heights, Saddlebrook, Yellowstone, Windridge, Eagle Ridge, and the Village in Burns Harbor. We at Pickering Homes look forward to beginning the building process with you from the planning stage to the day we hand you your keys.

Pickering Homes places great value on professional development. This is exemplified by belonging to professional organizations such as the National Association of Home Builders, the Indiana Builders Association, and the Porter County Builders Association. It is also important within Pickering Homes to be active within these organizations. Bryce is currently the President- Elect of the Porter County Builders Association and will be the President in 2010.

Pickering Homes also places great value on obtaining available education designations available through the National Association of Homebuilders. Bryce is a Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) and is also a Certified Green Professional (CGP). He, as a business owner, has demonstrated his commitment to excellence by undertaking these continuing education courses in professional management. In addition to courses already taken to achieve these prestigious designations Bryce must also complete a regularly updated curriculum of continuing education.
